Get Involved in Cool the City
Volunteer
Cooling the city requires planting more trees, providing maintenance to ensure those trees survive, and giving trees away to our neighbors. It also means taking care of green spaces through litter pick-up, beautification, and invasive species removal. We accomplish so much more with the help of volunteers, and can’t wait to see you at our next workday.
Learn
Outdoor Learning Classrooms (OLC): We host regular community learning sessions with experts on topics like Urban Heat Islands, urban forestry, urban agriculture, and green infrastructure. Each OLC is held in an accessible public park.
Climate Action Forums (CAF): We host forums in South Richmond for neighbors to learn about the impacts of climate change, discover the climate resilience strategies already taking place in their communities, and consider ways they can get involved.
All education events have Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
Donate
Reversing decades of disinvestment and poor policy takes time, hard work, and money. If you’re in a position to support Southside ReLeaf financially, please make a gift to advance our work to cool the city and address the disparities that lead to lower quality of life for our Southside neighbors.
Volunteer with Our Partners
Our partners in the Cool the City campaign regularly host additional volunteer and education activities. No matter how you choose to get involved, we just hope that you do.
