Young Tree Pruning Workshop & Community Workday

  • Hickory Hill Community Center 3000 East Belt Boulevard Richmond, VA, 23234 United States (map)

Post-planting tree care is often an overlooked subject when talking about trees. Join Michael Staton of the City of Richmond's Urban Forestry Division, for a hands-on workshop on how to prune and care for young trees. This workshop is suitable for homeowners looking to gain practical knowledge on how to monitor and maintain their trees.

We also invite community members to join us and Southside ReLeaf for a site workday, where we will be checking on their recent plantings at Hickory Hill Community Center. We will be pruning, weeding tree beds, and laying down fresh mulch in preparation for the Fall and Winter months. The first 3 years after planting is considered the most critical time in ensuring healthy root and structural development, so help us ensure a future of happy trees!
