Tree Planting + Care Workday at Blackwell Elementary School

  • Blackwell Elementary School 300 East 15th Street Richmond, VA, 23224 United States (map)

Our mission is to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for Southside Richmond by building green spaces and advocating for people-centered policy. We rely on volunteer support to help us maintain green spaces throughout the Southside.

Please join Southside ReLeaf during Richmond Tree Week for a tree planting and tree care day at Blackwell Elementary School on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10 am - 1 pm.

We’ll be joined by our partners at Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

What?

In the near future, this park will undergo a number of enhancements, including a new community garden, permeable paver parking lot, new paved walking trail, and native plant areas. In preparation for this work, join us as we plant new trees at Blackwell Elementary School. Volunteers may also assist in providing tree care and maintenance to young trees that were previously planted.

Where?

Blackwell Elementary School, 300 East 15th Street.

What should I bring?

All tools will be provided. Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Please bring a refillable water bottle and bug spray. Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own pair. Dress for the weather. You may want to bring a long sleeve shirt for protection from bugs and scrapes.

Do I need to sign up?

Yes! Please sign-up using the button below. If you have any questions, please email Lisa at lisa@southsidereleaf.org.
