Please join Reedy Creek Coalition and Local Ecotype Richmond Natives (LERN) a guided walk and workday in Crooked Branch Ravine Park as part of Richmond Tree Week!
What?
This event will begin with a one-hour walking tour through Crooked Branch Ravine Park, one of Richmond’s hidden gems. Topics covered during the walk will include tree identification, the role of trees in protecting water quality and reducing heat islands, and the impact of invasive plants on tree canopy. The second hour will be devoted to removing English ivy plants that are threatening a high quality forested area of the park. We will also plant some small trees and shrubs to enhance the understory.
When?
Sunday, October 13 from 2 - 4 pm.
Where?
Crooked Branch Ravine Park, (entrance at the end of Northrop St.).
What should I bring?
Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, bring water and a snack if needed. Bring garden gloves with you if possible. We will have extra gloves if needed.
