Spring Planting at Ernest Road - April 23

  • Ernest Road (site of forthcoming park) 2913 Ernest Road Richmond, VA, 23234 United States (map)

If you haven't heard the good news yet, Southside ReLeaf is working with the city to bring four new parks online in South Richmond! One of those parks will be along Ernest Road. For the current phase of the project, we’re seeking volunteers to help with two days of spring planting in the new park space.

When are the workdays?

We are seeking volunteers for two upcoming workdays.

  • Wednesday, April 23 | 10 am - 1 pm

  • Thursday, April 24 | 10 am - 1 pm

Volunteers will be digging small to medium holes, removing plants from containers, planting in the ground, unloading mulch bags, raking mulch, and watering newly placed plants. Volunteers don’t have to stay for the full three hours on one or both workdays, but we ask that you plan to stay for at least one hour.

Where are the workdays?

Using your GPS, navigate to 2913 Ernest Rd. Parking will be in a residential neighborhood on the street. Parking anywhere nearby is sufficient, but please do not block driveways or mailboxes. Once parked, you’ll walk down the grassy path with the “No Parking” sign and follow the path to the right.

What should I bring?

Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Please bring a refillable water bottle. Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own pair. Dress for the weather. You may want to bring a long sleeve shirt for protection from bugs and scrapes.

Do I need to sign up?

Yes! Please sign up for one or both workdays through CFengage. There’s one registration form for both workdays. If you have any questions about these workdays, please email Lisa at lisa@southsidereleaf.org.
